I would like to use the leaky gut syndrome as a metaphor to drive a point home this week. We have been hearing of the harmful effects of this syndrome. There are cracks in the intestine that leak out nutrients to places where they are not supposed to, causing havoc and chaos in one’s health. The gut is called the second brain and impacts our mood, sleep, and overall health due to producing nutrients and neurotransmitters sending signals to the brain that affect our cognitive functions.
I can apply this to the way my mind is. I notice that when I allow the mind to leak into my way of being, I observe chaos. I notice feeling sad and like a victim. If I do not take care, it could go on and on. Rigor and discipline is required to notice when this happens. I practice a structured routine whereby I am privileged to be able to take good care of myself. The tools of awareness, mindful breathing, meditation, reading sacred texts, having solid social connections, regular yoga, exercise, a daily brisk walk, cooking healthy nutritious and wholesome meals, being in community service, and serving clients each day are some of my go to practices.
Please share some of your practices that help you win over the mind and maintain a state of bliss, joy and steadfastness. What will you consciously practice to keep your well-being secured from leaky mind syndrome.
Humbly,
