EMPATHY

Practicing empathy is feeling the other’s feelings just like my own. Do we really practice empathy? Do we respect the other’s needs like ours? Very often we get stuck in our little box of self need that powers our ways of being. This often harms our relationships. During one coaching conversation, we explored the concept of empathy and worked out a checklist of being empathetic.
Empathy pays attention to respecting the other
Empathy is curious
Empathy listens quietly without judgment
Empathy accepts and forgives the other
Empathy is quiet and giving
Empathy is kind
Empathy has a light energy around her
Empathy sets boundaries from a place of openness, mutual trust and a desire to grow.
Let us check what our empathy levels are today!#empath #empathy #acceptance #curiosity #kindness #giving #quiet #caring #lightness #saturday #transformativesolutions

ATTACHMENT = SUFFERING

A client recently asked me how she might stay detached and above the noise that generally overcomes many of us.
Instinctively the response that I found myself giving her was to stay vigilant and aware throughout the waking hours. When I stay conscious, I remind myself of the purpose of this precious life. Each one comes with a unique purpose based on the reflection that life gives us. The impermanence and fragility of life is a good reminder to keep oneself grounded.
Attachment is like being in charge of a condominium and getting attached to the problems and challenges of each resident.
Let each one of us reflect on our relationship to detachment today and everyday. As the Buddha says very widely “Attachment leads to suffering”. Namaste #buddha #attachment #suffering #detachment #namaste #consciousness #impermanence #transformation #transformativesolutions #saturdaymood #weekend

STOP ”SHOULDING” AND “COULDING”

The intelligent mind has been given to us to be able to discern, filter and stay connected to the Supreme Essence. I notice that many of us get distracted by the manipulation around us. This leads to a feeling of contraction, tightness, and uneasiness. It also gives rise to the most dangerous emotions of guilt, shame and fear. Since it is difficult to process these emotions which are surfacing, we go deeper and deeper into the quicksand of ignorance and duality, and feel restless.

If you feel the above, my request is for you to start learning to distill your actual experiences from all the “shoulding”, “coulding” that we are accustomed to reverting to.

Claim your freedom and tap into the Light which is present within yourself. The bliss and joy that you shall feel shall be unimaginably sweet.

Anybody can become angry – that is easy, but to be angry with the right person and to the right degree and at the right time and for the right purpose, and in the right way – that is not within everybody’s power and is not easy.

Aristotle

This quote is yet another one of my favorite quotes that I return to often. The question arises about how one might discern what the right time, degree, purpose, and person to whom the anger is directed towards.

I would like to support this with a Sanskrit quote:

Om Asato Maa Sad Gamaya
Tamaso Maa Jyotirgamaya
Mrityormaa Amritam Gamaya

What the above quote essentially refers to is for one to be pulled out of untruth to a place of truth, to move to a place of light and discernment, which finally leads to an eternal state of bliss. Conscious seekers reach a place of wisdom with a fearless attitude by acting from a place of kindness, blessing and gratitude. They do not challenge the experience but rather embrace and grow as a result. The Light of the wisdom and experience enriches the path forward. They see the Divine’s blessings and can authentically witness every being from that lens.

The guilt and shame society inflicts on the emotion of anger must be clearly broken down and understood. Anger then becomes an effective emotion, which is here to serve us just like every other emotion.

Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional ~ Buddha

As the above quote suggests, life and the material dimension brings a tremendous amount of pain and suffering. We are caught in a web of desires, fears, guilt, shame and several other emotions, which can hold us hostage.

The views and opinions controlled by our ego can add further to our misery. Once a conscious seeker starts observing these from the lens of a detached observer, they can find themselves in the place of serenity, acceptance, peace and joy. The pain and suffering become a doorway for such a being to tap into the fountain of joy within.

Stop rejecting the pain that life brings. Embrace, accept and find the sweet spot of the innate peace and joy if you wish to release from age old bondages that are the reason of our earthly journey. Life is simply a medium that helps the seeker find these within.

EXPANDING PERSPECTIVE

The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes – Marcel Proust

This quote is one of my several favorite quotes.

We often block ourselves by becoming a victim of our thoughts and narratives. We see the world from our limited lens and keep ourselves stuck. This leads to tremendous pain, suffering and anguish. The result can be panic attacks, anxiety, and other mental health challenges, which can make us extra sensitive to the blows of life.

Getting out of this narrative helps with viewing others with compassion, love, kindness and tender care. This increases the level of empathy towards another as well as improves interpersonal relationships.

This week, let each one of us reflect on the quality of our relationships from this perspective. Are we walking our talk honestly?

ACKNOWLEDGE EMOTIONS

During a recent coaching session I explored with my client about how she feels after she has accomplished a huge milestone in her journey.

We learnt together that her gratitude and joy was superficial and from a place of confusion, scattered emotions, and denial of what she was truly feeling.

When will we simply pause and feel the emotions that we feel? When will we center ourselves? This will happen when we are in touch with ourselves and rooted in the present moment.

Once we did a grounding practice together during the session, the gratitude and calm that she experienced was at a deeper level, reaching every cell of her being.

Gratitude experienced from this state helps us tap into the wow-ness and wonder of life. It helps us be in awe. Please practice and take yourselves to this state.

THE KINGDOM OF BLISS

Dearest Treasures,

This week I have uploaded a poem on Spotify. This poem, titled The Kingdom of Bliss, emerged from deep within last week. Please listen, enjoy, and share on the Transformative Meditations by Prerna Sujan on Spotify.

The Kingdom of Bliss
I started my journey to the kingdom of bliss
At first, I was in a huge hurry until bliss showed me the way
She asked me to slow down and enjoy the ride
She showed me some dark monsters
And with awareness she showed me to observe with rigor
Without reacting or clinging
She gave me some roses to smell along the way
Which made me happy and joyful
She asked me to slow down and enjoy the ride
Till I reached a state where bliss has been forgotten
And experiences are being collected
Some good, some horrific and some scary
She asked me to slow down and enjoy the ride
When now, there is no desire to reach the kingdom of bliss
I slow down and simply enjoy the ride
Sometimes smooth, sometimes bumpy
I slow down and simply enjoy the ride
And I am in the kingdom of bliss!

Namaste,

SELF REFLECTION AND CONTEMPLATION

This is a post for self reflection and contemplation. I have encountered many on the journey who live with incongruence and speak a certain way when their actions are the opposite of what they supposedly stand for. This leaves me feeling perplexed, confused, and disappointed.

Over a period of time, I recognize the disconnect. My learning is to stay detached, steadfast and robust in my practices. The root cause of suffering is an unhealthy attachment and must be clearly examined at all times and worked through.

I remind myself of my true nature and purpose of life at times when I am going through such an upheaval. I bring a heightened awareness with deliberation of encountering every experience for a reason. I know that I am being shaped to reach a place of quiet, peace, bliss and unconditional acceptance with a spirit and heart filled with love and kindness. I understand this as an instrument that is playing a part in my journey of growth and transformation.

The 4 STEPS TOWARDS YOUR TRANSFORMATION

A corporate client coachee asked me one morning how she could facilitate working against her default patterns in her personal life now that she had successfully transformed and overcome her default patterns in her professional life as an executive.

We brainstormed and came up with the following four steps, which I am sharing here for your learning. Please remember to practice these with rigor.

1. Focus: This involves a high sense of awareness with laser focus on what is going on within myself.
2. Rigor: Once I know what my internal and external state is, I bring in rigor to harmonize my way of being.
3. Purpose: Are we aware of our true purpose? Do we ever wonder why we face similar problems in several facets of life? Once we become aligned to our inner purpose, we shall reflect and make necessary changes towards our well being.
4. Conscious Choice: Working on the above 3, we can consciously create the way we wish our lives to manifest and unfold. Let us remind ourselves of the power that each one of us holds within ourselves. Once you recognize these, you will be amazed at the magic of your lives.
