Rumi in the 21st Century

As I was contemplating on this weekend’s post the following poem by the 13th century poet and mystic Rumi comes to mind. This has been the question this week from several clients. The very nature of being human is to experience several thoughts, emotions and perceptions. We tend to want to make meaning of everything with the intelligent mind. But we are actually the biggest fools many a time under the mask of intelligence. Let us learn to claim mastery back into our hands.

THE GUEST HOUSE

This being human is a guest house.

Every morning a new arrival.

A joy, a depression, a meanness,

some momentary awareness comes
as an unexpected visitor.

Welcome and entertain them all!

Even if they are a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture,
still, treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out
for some new delight.

The dark thought, the shame, the malice.

meet them at the door laughing and invite them in.

Be grateful for whatever comes.

because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond.

Dreams

Dreams are very interesting. They reveal a lot. But the way I see is that life too is a dream. We believe that this is happening for real. We are all pieces of a very interesting puzzle. When we wake up from a dream, many times we don’t know what is real or unreal. Then we realize that this was only a dream. Life must be handled similarly. Staying detached, yet kind loving and doing without the feeling that I am the doer because I am simply an instrument 💕🙏

Az álmok nagyon érdekesek. Sok mindent felfednek.
