Weekend Post

unnamed

The weather in Budapest is simply beautiful. Spring seems to be here and people are out and about enjoying the nice weather. One such sunny morning, as I was heading over to my client’s offices, I saw a young lad dragging his dog back home. The little puppy wanted to play with his mates in the park and enjoy the sunshine and the scents of spring. He resisted obeying his owner.

I stopped for a few minutes to watch this story unfold. It was quite a funny sight.

Aren’t we similar? We constantly resist and fight the status quo. We cause ourselves turbulence, anxiety. We worry over matters that we have no control over.

I noticed this week how my mind resisted being in the present. As I was reminded of the cute puppy’s behavior, I gently brought my mind back to the current moment.

I encourage you all to do the same.

What will your strategy and image be to shift your mindset?

Weekend Post

I received a wake up call today morning just as i was beginning to be from a space of entitlement and righteousness. As I was traveling on a bus to attend a workshop, I came across a screaming boy who was evidently sick with a disorder. His father was kind yet very firm towards the boy, who continued to scream. I found myself almost crying. I was so extremely grateful for the kindness that life has given me. I so needed this reminder today.

I firmly resolved and committed to remind myself of the beauty that Life is no matter what. What will your practice be? What commitment will you make towards leading a life filled with contentment?

Saturday Musings

I remember meeting with a car accident when I had just learnt driving. The experience was traumatic and not my fault. It was truly an unlucky experience. My 2 princesses who were 2 and 5 then were sitting in the back with me. They were stricken with fear and it was heartbreaking to see their little faces. I clearly recall doubting my abilities to drive and wanted to stop driving. It took a lot of courage to get over this fear and hit the road once again which I did successfully.

Our failures get registered in the brain and inhibits us to try again. It requires courage, discipline and a bag full of motivating self talk to go against this initial factory setting.

What will your practice be this week to bring courage, discipline and motivational self talk to consciously pursue your dreams, passions, desires? Create a new default setting to replace the one you are born and raised with.

Weekend Post

One of my clients was brought up in a traditional, conservative family setting. He has a robust set of values and strives to lead a mindful conscious life. He finds it extremely challenging when some of his peers do not lead with the same style and then questions himself as his self doubt creeps in. He ends up feeling guilty, which affects his well being.

The following quote by Socrates helped him shift and understand how his belief system dictates his actions.

‘Obscurity is dispelled by augmenting the light of discernment rather than attacking the darkness’

We act by default which does not serve us many times. Once we learn to use and augment the power of discernment, we act differently.

My client let go of his expectations towards his colleagues, he worked on accepting them just as they were.

Having understood this, he is now beginning to experience well being and balance. He does not get frustrated because he serves his needs first. As a rule of thumb, he gives himself dignity before he acts.

Research shows that new habits and patterns are formed by way of repetition, despite our default patterns working hard to sabotage our well being.

I am sure this resonates with a lot of us. What are you going to resolve and discern this week?

See you next week!

Weekend Post

I saw a client this week to whom I had introduced the Guest House by Rumi right at the beginning of our journey together. It took him a few weeks to soak in the words of this masterpiece. He translated it for me very kindly in Hungarian which I post below. Much gratitude dear one! This post is dedicated to you.

He reported that he has stopped participating with thoughts/emotions and is living as a silent observer. His life quality seems visibly enhanced, he experiences a level of joy that is very new to him.

I walked away from this conversation grateful to be a powerful agent of transformation within my clients.

What will your practice be? Are you willing to bring rigor and take full responsibility for your well being?

THE GUEST HOUSE- RUMI
A VENDÉGHÁZ – RUMI

This being human is a guest house. Every morning a new arrival.
Az emberi lét, olyan mint egy vendégház. Minden reggel új betérővel.

A joy, a depression, a meanness, some momentary awareness comes as an unexpected visitor.
Váratlan vendégként érkezik egy öröm, egy bánat, egy aljasság vagy némi pillanatnyi tudatosság.

Welcome and entertain them all! Even if they are a crowd of sorrows, who violently sweep your house empty of its furniture, still, treat each guest honorably. He may be clearing you out for some new delight.
Köszöntsd és szórakoztasd mind! Még ha egy csapatnyi bú is az, akik erőszakkal ürítik ki házad, magukkal víve minden bútorod.

The dark thought, the shame, the malice. meet them at the door laughing and invite them in.
A sötét gondolat, a szégyen, a rosszindulat. Köszöntsd őket az ajtóban nevetve és hívd be őket.

Be grateful for whatever comes. Because each has been sent as a guide from beyond.
Légy hálás, bármi is érkezik. Mert mind útmutatóként van küldve a túloldalról.

Overwhelm

image1

I noticed an overwhelming feeling at the beginning of this week. It all seemed too much for me. The story of ‘too much’ invaded my Being. I persisted patiently and worked throughout the week, accomplishing as much as I possibly could under the given circumstances.

Situations changed and I applied flexibility and adjusted to them accordingly. I was patient and kind to myself throughout. Judgement came and I observed without participation. I noticed that there were two parallel persons inside me, one chaotic and the other observant. I did not participate in the chaos that I was experiencing in full form this week and this was key. After a few days of being in this position, peace overcame me. I was grateful and seemed to be more like myself.

What will you resolve to practice with rigor this week? How will you stop participating in the chaos?

AHA Moment

coffee 1

I was comfortably settled into a coaching conversation at one of my favorite locations – the coffee shop at Margaret Island. I always find it so tranquil and peaceful there and an ideal location to coach.

Towards the end of my coaching conversation, I noticed one of the waitresses approaching our table, smiling ear to ear. We had a sweet conversation and since she hadn’t seen me since the beginning of the year, she wished me a happy new year even though it was already the middle of February.

It struck me almost immediately that I find so much joy and gratitude in these precious moments. The social connections that I have created in this magical city help me survive and thrive through the difficult moments when I miss my girls who both live so far away from me.

Life brings its challenges but I choose to consciously focus on the select moments that keep me going.

What will you consciously choose and create this week?

Noticing My Triggering Patterns

IMG-20190205-WA0000_2

I had a call this week where I was being challenged and grilled even though the intention of the person was very kind. I noticed a contraction in my stomach, my default setting of not being good enough and unworthy was secretly activated. I noticed becoming border line defensive, a bit annoyed. I thought I had practiced enough over the past 7 years ever since this pattern had been uncovered when I went to coaching school. Obviously not! We are given lessons from the Universe to develop and grow.

I observed myself from the outside, took a few conscious breaths and started to ‘be’ from a space of dignity and self worth.

The first step was to notice, the second was to ask myself the possibilities that I might be sabotaging as a result of this pattern within me. The conversation ended magically, I thanked the friend that I was talking to for the kind intention and the learnings of the conversation.

What pattern dominates your way of Being? What will your alarm bell be this week?

Love Conquers

IMG-20190206-WA0001I just finished speaking to my Hungarian teacher and I asked her for feedback on my progress. The feedback I received was that I’m much more confident to speak with an intention towards mastery than ever before. I reflected back that the reason I am confident is because of her patience and kindness without judgment.

I get nervous when I am feeling judged and start making mistakes.

She reiterated back how much she adores me which is what motivates her and is a big driver during our calls.

It’s amazing how love is the one singular force that drives and motivates us.

What will you do to consciously bring the love, care and kindness towards your fellow humans this weekend?

Weekend Post

My week began with a part of my tooth breaking off. It was extremely uncomfortable and my tongue was in danger of being cut or bitten by the sharpness of the broken tooth. I was required to work and speak during the day and noticed huge discomfort. I was extremely blessed to receive an emergency appointment with my dear dentist who was working that afternoon. I was thankful to not have to reschedule any work-related appointments.

As the day passed in discomfort, I recognized yet again how blessed we are with the human body. Every small part works seamlessly and in harmony. When sickness hits us, something begins to malfunction.

My takeaway is as follows: As humans, we try to control and micromanage every aspect of our lives. In turn, we end up jeopardizing our well-being. The power that keeps the world going is perfectly capable of taking care of us.

Why do we interfere? What will your small practice be to recognize when you are going against nature and doing yourself more harm than good?
